AP&PA Announced Printing-Writing Statistics for June 2022

The report suggests marginal decline by 2% in total printing-writing paper shipments during the month, in comparison with June last year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released its Printing-Writing report for the month of June 2022.

The report suggests marginal decline by 2% in total printing-writing paper shipments during the month, in comparison with June last year. The total printing-writing paper purchases by the U.S. surged higher by 3% year-on-year. Meantime, the total printing-writing paper inventory levels decreased 2%, upon comparison with the prior month.

According to AF&PA, the U.S. purchases of uncoated free sheet (UFS) papers increased 2% over the previous year. The inventory levels recorded month-on-month decline by 2%. The UFS imports were up by 18%, while the exports reported 20% dip in May this year.

When compared to June 2021, the coated free sheet (CFS) paper shipments increased 2%. The inventory level recorded 1% decline sequentially. CFS imports soared 10% while exports decreased 1% in May 2022.

The U.S. purchases of coated mechanical (CM) papers recorded notable decline by 16% year-on-year. The inventory levels slipped by 8%. The imports and exports of CM were both down by 16% and 19% respectively.

Meantime, the uncoated mechanical (UM) paper shipments increased 28%. The inventory levels decreased by 4%. The UM imports surged 8%, whereas the exports slumped 30% when matched with May 2021.
