The deal, completed through Saica Natur, the group’s environmental services arm, significantly broadens Saica’s recovery footprint by adding Madrid and key areas across northern and western Spain to its network.

The acquired business focuses on the collection and processing of paper, cardboard, and other non-hazardous industrial and commercial waste. As part of the transaction, Saica assumes control of operational facilities located in Madrid, Toledo, Cáceres, Valladolid, Asturias, Vizcaya, and León. Together, these sites employ more than 150 workers and generated revenues of approximately €33 million during 2024.

Saica said the acquisition supports its long-term strategy to reinforce circular economy activities across the Iberian Peninsula. Group President and CEO Susana Alejandro noted that integrating FCC Ámbito’s experienced workforce and established customer base enhances Saica’s service capabilities and market reach.

FCC enviro CEO Íñigo Sanz described the divestment as aligned with the company’s asset optimization strategy, allowing it to concentrate on priority growth areas.

Following the transaction, Saica Natur operates 47 facilities across Europe and employs over 1,700 people.
